Check Management Settings
Purpose
Check Management Settings control how stop payment requests are handled in the Teller, including what information is announced to callers, what actions are permitted, and how fees and limits are enforced.
This section defines the rules for individual and range-based stop payments, confirmation messaging, and how the system behaves when funds are insufficient to cover stop payment fees.
Configurations Supported
- Announce the stop payment period and applicable fees
- Allow stop payments on:
- Single checks
- Ranges of checks
- Checks drawn on loan accounts
- Provide confirmation numbers and mailed confirmation notices
- Define stop payment and returned draft fee amounts
- Control how insufficient funds situations are handled
- Set minimum and maximum check number lengths
- Limit how many checks can be included in inquiry or stop payment ranges
- Define how long a stop payment remains active (in weeks or months)

Field Reference
Type: Toggle/Boolean
Purpose: Controls whether the stop payment duration is announced to the caller.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller announces the stop payment duration (based on the configured period and interval). When disabled, the stop payment period is not announced during Teller playback.
Caller Impact: Caller hears how long the stop payment will remain active before confirming the request.
Default Value: Disabled
Type: Toggle/Boolean
Purpose: Determines whether callers can place a stop payment on multiple consecutive check numbers in a single request.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller allows callers to place a stop payment on a range of check numbers. When disabled, callers may only place stop payments on individual checks.
Caller Impact: Caller may stop multiple checks in one transaction when permitted.
Default Value: Enabled
Type: Toggle/Boolean
Purpose: Controls whether the caller is informed that a confirmation letter will be mailed.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller informs the caller that a stop payment confirmation letter will be mailed to the address on file. When disabled, no mailing notification is provided during the Teller interaction.
Caller Impact: Caller is informed whether written confirmation will be sent.
Default Value: Disabled
Type: Toggle/Boolean
Purpose: Determines whether a stop payment fee applies and is disclosed.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller informs the caller that a stop payment fee applies before the request is confirmed. When disabled, no fee disclosure is played.
Caller Impact: Caller hears whether a fee will be charged before completing the stop payment.

Options Availability: Weeks, Months
Purpose: Defines whether the stop payment duration is measured in weeks or months.
Behavior: Teller calculates the stop payment duration using the selected interval (Weeks or Months) in combination with the configured stop payment period value.
Caller Impact: Caller hears the stop payment duration expressed in the selected unit of time.
Default Value: Weeks
Type: Numeric/Currency
Purpose: Specifies the fee charged for a returned draft.
Behavior: Teller announces the configured return draft fee amount when Return Draft Fee Active is enabled.
Caller Impact: Caller hears the exact return draft fee amount when applicable.
Default Value: Enabled
Type: Input/Integer
Purpose: Defines the minimum number of digits required for a valid check number.
Behavior: Teller validates that the entered check number meets or exceeds the configured minimum digit length before processing.
Caller Impact: Caller must enter a check number that meets the required length.
Default Value: 3
Type: Input/Integer
Purpose: Limits the number of checks that can be included in a check number inquiry range.
Behavior: Teller prevents inquiry requests that exceed the configured maximum number of checks within a range.
Caller Impact: Caller must limit inquiry ranges to the configured maximum number of checks.
Default Value: 100
Type: Toggle/Boolean
Purpose: Determines whether stop payments are allowed on checks drawn against loan accounts.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller allows stop payments on eligible loan accounts. When disabled, loan accounts are excluded from stop payment eligibility.
Caller Impact: Caller may or may not be able to place stop payments on loan-based checks depending on configuration.

Purpose: Controls whether a confirmation number is provided after a successful stop payment.
Behavior: When enabled, Teller provides a confirmation number at the end of the stop payment transaction. When disabled, no confirmation number is announced.
Caller Impact: Caller receives or does not receive a confirmation reference number.
Default Value: Enabled

Purpose: Defines how stop payment requests are handled when insufficient funds are available to cover the stop payment fee.
Behavior: Teller processes stop payment requests according to the selected insufficient funds handling option:
- Ignore: Stop payment proceeds regardless of available balance.
- Prevent Processing: Stop payment is blocked if funds are insufficient.
- Prevent Processing and Provide Option: Stop payment is blocked and the caller is offered transfer to the designated stop payment transfer point.
Caller Impact: Caller may experience automatic processing, rejection, or transfer to an agent when funds are insufficient.

Type: Numeric/Currency
Purpose: Specifies the fee charged for placing a stop payment.
Behavior: Teller announces the configured stop payment fee amount when Stop Payment Fee Active is enabled.
Caller Impact: Caller hears the exact fee amount before confirming the stop payment request.
Default Value: $27.50

Purpose: Specifies how long the stop payment remains active.
Behavior: Teller keeps the stop payment active for the configured number of weeks or months based on the selected interval.
Caller Impact: Caller hears the total duration the stop payment will remain in effect.

Purpose: Specifies the fee charged for a returned draft.
Behavior: Teller announces the configured return draft fee amount when Return Draft Fee Active is enabled.
Caller Impact: Caller hears the exact return draft fee amount when applicable.

Purpose: Defines the maximum number of digits allowed for a valid check number.
Behavior: Teller validates that the entered check number does not exceed the configured maximum digit length.
Caller Impact: Caller cannot enter a check number longer than the configured limit.

Purpose: Limits the number of checks that can be included in a stop payment range request.
Behavior: Teller prevents stop payment requests that exceed the configured maximum number of checks within a range.
